Molybdenum

Molybdenum (Mo) is an essential nutrient for plant growth, but because only a small amount is needed, it is classified as a micronutrient.  Molybdenum is also essential for many plant functions. To note a few:

• Molybdenum is considered to be quite mobile as it moves readily in both the xylem and phloem conductive tissue of the plant
• Molybdenum functions in converting nitrates (NO3) into amino acids within the plant.
• Molybdenum is essential to the symbiotic nitrogen fixing bacteria in legumes.
• Molybdenum is essential to the conversion of inorganic P into organic forms in the plant.
